Overview

Innovative and modern, Current is the contemporary room in the collection: 6,000 square feet of waterfront space on the Hudson River at Chelsea Piers, defined by a sixteen-foot custom-lit LED ceiling that carries color across the entire room and floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto an 800-square-foot balcony above the marina.

For a seated dinner, the working capacity is 300 guests in Water, the main room. Wind is deliberately left out of that number: it carries cocktail hour and food and beverage service, so dinner and reception never compete for the same floor. Across both spaces Current holds up to 500 for a standing reception, and 360 theatre-style.

The room suits weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, corporate meetings, product launches and holiday celebrations, and the LED ceiling is the reason no two of them photograph alike. A private suite with restroom and vanity sits off the main space, and blackout and solar shades give full control of the daylight.

Production is built in rather than brought in. Four EM Acoustics speakers run on a Dante AV-over-IP network, two Panasonic 10,000-lumen laser projectors throw to two motorized Da-Lite tensioned screens, and Chauvet Rogue moving heads with ETC Source4 ellipsoidals light the stage. Multiple rigging points sit overhead, ground-floor access brings display vehicles directly into the room, and an on-site audiovisual specialist works every event.

Valet parking and shuttle service are available, and Wi-Fi is complimentary throughout.

For larger gatherings, Pier Sixty seats up to 1,200 in 20,000 square feet of column-free space, and The Lighthouse offers a light-filled 10,000-square-foot loft, both on the same Hudson River waterfront at Chelsea Piers.
